To demonstrate the principle of the screw jack and to determine the relationship between friction and mechanical efficiency. Comprises a heavy cast iron base supporting a steel screw jack. Top of the jack carries an aluminum pulley of dia. 100 mm. Another smaller pulley of dia. 38 mm. with rod is held by a bosshead to the rod for guiding the cord from the main pulley. MS-116 PVG SCREW JACK

  • Hard wood reinforced with metal at the ends, length 300 mm., with three ball bearing wheels, a quick release triple impulse spring pin, with two removable metal pins at each end to enable trolleys of equal mass to be stacked or to give anchoring points for accelerating cords. ELASTIC CORDS For accelerating trolleys, rubber length 175 mm. with eyelet at both ends. TROLLEY MASSES Steel mass equal to the mass of one trolley, with rubber pads. This reduces the number of actual trolleys. SPRINGS - Steel springs to use with dynamic trolleys in the investigation of longitudinal wave motion, length x diameter 50 x 15 mm. Attached by spring holders to the front or rear of a dynamic trolley. In this way a number of trolleys can be joined together. SPRING HOLDER For attaching up to four springs side by side to the back and front of wooden trolleys. Metal plate 115x15 mm. length x width with hole at each end and with two central side metal flaps. TROLLEY RUNWAY Gives a smooth flat easily inclinable surface for experiments. With metal side rails and plastic feet. Dimensions -1.5 x 0.3 M.

Metal linear scale fixed to the edge of the plane. o A vertical linear and 0-45 angular scale screwed to the base, with clamp shaped for use as on index.   • This apparatus is for demonstration the volume of air enclosed in the column. Comprises a vertical glass tube of wide bore mounted on side of scale graduated 0- 60 cm. fitted on wooden base having plastic feet. This glass tube is connected to cylinder metal reservoir by a pressure tubing and stopcock. Reservoir is connected to dual2 2 scale pressure gauze reading 0 - 4.2 kg/cm and 0 - 60 lb/in above and side to a riffled inlet with stopcock for connection to foot pump.
