Voltmeter and ammeter are replaced by a single, directly
calibrated instrument.
The joule meter is a modified watt-hour meter, arranged for lowVoltage working, and calibrated in joules(J).Meter mounted on On

connections are mounted on an engraved black plastics plaque
fitted to the base. The alumminium disc rotates once every 100 J
