Decade Resistance Box is a test instrument containing multiple groups of precision resistors.
Can be used manually or electronically dial in almost any custom resistance value by turning switches or knobs in decimal increments (e.g., 1s, 10s, 100s, 1,000s of ohms).
Salient Features and Uses
• Helps to Quickly find the ideal resistor value for a live circuit without swapping individual parts.
• Used for Calibration i.e Test and calibrate measuring equipment like multimeters and Wheatstone bridges.
• Made as Step through variable resistance ranges, from milliohms up to several megaohms.
Common Specifications
• Range: Broad spans like 0.1 Ω to 1 MΩ or higher.
• Accuracy: High-precision , ranging from normal educational ± 1% down to laboratory ± 0.01%.
• Construction: Often built using low thermal EMF, non-inductive wire-wound constantan resistors to maintain stable values
With four decade dials, resistance can easily be tuned in the range from 1 to 9999 Ohms in 1 Ohm steps.
The 4 mm sockets used for easy connection to student circuits, and can be used as a potential divider.
Ideal for any electronics experiment that requires variable resistance, or a range of resistance values, including such as :
• Verifying Ohm’s Law
• Effect of resistance on the time constant in RC circuits
• Potential divider investigations
Resistors are 1% tolerance. Power rating 1 W continuous.
Dood Quality Rotary switches with pointer and plate engraved with Resistance values for easy to use.
Mounted in Wooden or Plastic Box.
