A mechanical double beam balance scale machine with durable aluminium alloy construction, stainless steel platform.
A mechanical weighing instrument which measures mass by comparing an unknown sample against calibrated internal sliding weights (riders) and optional supplementary masses.
Accuracy of this balance is used for comparative weighing to determine the difference in mass between two objects.
Ensure stable, repeatable measurements even with frequent use.
Salient Features & Technical Specifications
• Two-pan, equal-arm mechanical system featuring dual graduated horizontal beams mounted on a central knife-edge pivot.
• Weighs up to 210g using the sliding masses alone, and Capacityup to 2,000g when combined with external supplementary mass sets.
• Fine beam graduations with Readability / Divisiondown to 0.1g (and coarse beam steps of 10g).
• Stabilization is easy asequipped with magnetic damping or agile knife edges/agate bearings for rapid pointer settling.
• Pointer in the centre is used to check that scale is balanced.
• No Power Requirement because Operates entirely mechanically without requiring batteries or electricity.
How to Use a Double Beam Balance
Placing – Ensure the balance is on a level, vibration-free surface. Check that the pans and beams are free from debris, and verify that the sliding weights are correctly seated
Zero the Balance: Clear both pans, set all sliding riders on the upper and lower beams to zero, and check if the pointer aligns with the centre zero mark. Adjust the zero knob if necessary.
Place the Sample: Put the unknown object or container on the sample pan (usually the left pan).
Adjust the Riders: Slide the heavier coarse weights along the lower beam first until the pointer drops or approaches balance, then use the finer upper beam slider for precise tuning.
Read the Measurement: Sum the values indicated by the positions of the riders across both beams (and add any supplementary weights used on the pan) once the pointer rests at the centre zero index.
Liquid Samples – place corrosive or liquid samples in sealed containers or weighing boats to prevent damage or spills. Direct contact may compromise long-term performance
Calibration -periodic calibration using the standard weights is essential for accurate performance.
Replacement test weights and pans are available with PVG INTERNATIONAL.
