Easy to set up for simple measurement of transpiration. To investigate  transpiration. Measures the uptake of water by a cut plant shoot, This being used as an index of transpiration. The cut shoot may be replaced by a porous pot, filled with  water, which enables the rate of evaporation From a moist surface to be  measured giving an indication of relative humidity. The apparatus mounted on a strong backing plate for mounting  on a laboratory stand, Comprises a capillary tube with millimeter scale connected via a 3-way  tap to a syringe. The  cut shoot or porous pot is connected to the third outlet .The syringe enables easy adjustment of the  air  bubble during setting up.
