MS-189 PVG KINETIC THEORY MODEL
To demonstrate the various aspects of the kinetic theory of gases,
using small spheres set in motion by a mechanical agitator and to
simulate gaseous molecules. Comprises a clear perspex tube of 50
mm. diameter height 450 mm., fitted with a loose-fittings metal
cap. Tube mounted on a wooden box of size 170 x 170 x 150 mm.
high having plastic feet. Complete with an agitator piston driven by
an electric motor 6 V d.c, phosphor bronze spheres of diameter 3
mm. Top panel with 4 mm socket terminals. Overall dimensions 170
x 170 x 525 mm
KINETIC THEORY
This PVG’S Kinetic Theory Model in Physics allows differentaspects of the kinetic theory of gases to be simulated effectively.
Kinetic Motion of Gas molecules,to simulatethe behaviour of a gas as its molecules gain energy.
Browninan motion is simulated by foamed polystyrene spheres among the moleculaes of Gas.
Atmospheric rarefaction can be seen in this practical by this Model.
Boyles Law is by spheres and Piston i.e to show that greater pressure exerted by the large number of spheresand by reduction in volume.
Apparatus comprises a Round acrylic tube, fitted at upper end with loose fitting metal cap, tube with phosphor bronze spheres and an agitating piston, with metal base which houses vibrating motor.
