Accurate in measuring the fundamental charge on electron. Direct
reading, enables the observer to measure the exact distance
travelled by the droplets on the micrometer scale. Condenser
enclosed in a case allows minimum convection currents,
preventing disturbances to the droplet being observed.
Comprises the condenser unit which consist of two horizontal
brass plates of 50 mm. square, separated by insulated spacer with a
separation of 4.5 mm. Upper plate with a small hole in the center
for passage of oil drops into the observation chamber and is fitted
to the lower plate by two screws to facilitate the opening of the
condenser for cleaning. Condenser provided with two slits, one for
viewing the droplets and the other for projection of light.
