The RotaRod test is one of the oldest tests used for assessing motor coordination and balance in rodents. It provides a quick and simple estimation of neuromuscular coordination. The apparatus consists of a motorized, circular rod turning at a constant or increasing speed.
Rota Rod is a measure of the amount of sedation or motor impairment imposed upon an animal undergoing an experimental therapy.
Test involves placing the animal on a rotarod, and the time animal can remain on the rod before falling off is measured.

Speed of the Rod is adjusted using a motor control unit. Speed can be increased gradually or can be maintained at same speed.
